Period Paper is pleased to offer a collection of early 20th century art from the Austrian Revival or Vienna Secession art movement. Included in this collection are original photogravures, halftone prints, and color prints of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and decorative arts representing the work of the artists of the Secessionist art movement.
The Vienna Secession (also known as Secessionsstil, or Sezessionsstil in Austria) was a highly varied art movement that contained elements of Art Nouveau. It was formed in 1897 by a group of 19 Vienna artists, led by Gustav Klimt, who were dissatisfied with more conservative and traditional art of the time. Secessionists saw "art as life" and the new style reflected the iconoclastic spirit of turn-of-the-century Vienna. Pieces from this movement are considered highly collectible.
